The Fold Legal wins Best Law Firm in Banking & Finance and Insurance categories.

November 1,2018

Law firm The Fold Legal has been doubly rewarded for its expertise and the efficient way it works with clients by being named both Best Law Firm (Banking & Finance) and Best Law Firm (Insurance) at the 2018 NAB Professional Service Awards.

The Fold Legal is a boutique legal firm based in Sydney and Brisbane working predominantly with SMEs in the financial services and credit industries across Australia.

The Professional Service Awards, announced on 30 October 2018, are proudly sponsored by Principal Partner NAB and are adjudged each year by independent comparison company FirmChecker. The awards are based solely on direct feedback from the clients of firms which enter the awards, thereby ensuring that those who know the business get to judge the business.

The Fold Legal CEO Emma Zadow said the awards and client feedback confirmed that the firm was on the right track when it came to putting clients at the forefront of everything they did.

“The feedback that we display a very high standard of expertise in the Banking & Finance and Insurance sectors is pleasing because The Fold Legal has chosen to focus solely on financial services and credit,” Ms Zadow said.

“Because we specialise, our understanding of the regulatory requirements and other challenges facing businesses in these sectors is second to none. Our clients are attracted to and draw comfort from our in-depth knowledge and expertise.”

Ms Zadow said the other strong client feedback relating to how efficient the firm is was also great to hear and she believed it was linked to the firm’s expertise.

“In terms of the feedback on our efficiency, I think it is linked to our in-depth knowledge in the sense that if you’re already steeped in issues, you can get to the point faster,” Ms Zadow said.

“We have always, as a firm, tried to be incredibly efficient at turning around work and while it is great to have such positive client feedback, this is actually an area where the firm is working hard to become even better.”

Ms Zadow said another strength that set the firm apart from others in the financial services and credit sectors was that The Fold Legal has “incredible networks and industry relationships” which provide extensive benefits to clients.

The firm has an excellent working relationship with ASIC and sits on one of the regulator’s committees, giving them unique insights into ASIC’s approach. The Fold Legal is also Legal Partner to FinTech Australia (the peak body for the Australian financial services, technology and innovation sectors);  Insurtech Australia (a division of FinTech Australia focussed on growing the Australian insurtech community); and the Institute of Managed Account Professionals (the industry organisation for financial advisers, managers and providers involved in offering or supporting Managed Accounts).

“These relationships give us unique and ahead-of-the-curve insight into how our sectors work and the opportunity to influence regulatory and policy direction. Armed with this knowledge and relationships, we work to provide our clients with solutions that really help protect and support their businesses.”

While The Fold Legal has a highly impressive track record, you will definitely not find the firm resting on its laurels.

“We are improvement-focused. We didn’t enter the Professional Service Awards expecting to win. Instead we entered to get more client feedback as we care deeply about what our clients think, feel and want,” Ms Zadow said.

“Based on these awards, we will push harder in the areas our clients value – such as expertise and efficiency – while also working harder to make sure we understand and deliver on all their needs.”
