Maintaining Quality Through Growth – How Legalite Backed Up its 2017 Win.

November 27,2018

Legalite has again taken the ‘Top Gong’ in the legal category of the Professional Services Awards, winning Best Law Firm Overall in 2018, as judged by the clients.

Impressively, Legalite was able to maintain its lofty heights while more than doubling in size in the past 12 months. As well as adding two permanent staff, Legalite has doubled its client base from 60 to 120 in the 12 months since winning its first Professional Services Award.

Marianne Marchesi, the NewLaw firm’s Founder and Managing Principal, noted that maintaining high service standards during this period of growth had its challenges.

“It was important to me that as we got busier and grew, I was still maintaining that boutique, personal approach to client service. The last thing I want is for clients to ever feel like we got “too big” for them.”

For Marchesi, participating again in 2018 was the ideal way to test if this growth would be sustainable. It also helped test how clients viewed the new service offerings implemented as a result of last year’s survey.

“Off the back of last year’s feedback, we developed and rolled out a retainer-style virtual service called Legalite Counsel. This allows us to act as an extension of our clients’ in-house team while still giving fee certainty to our clients. It was great to see this was so well received in our 2018 feedback report.”

And they’re not stopping there. Legalite is rolling out a flexible model for Principals who join the firm, whereby they can take advantage of the firm’s infrastructure while still taking home the lion’s share of what they bill. This was inspired by feedback in the Awards survey feedback which indicated there was strong demand for Legalite to grow its suite of practice areas as clients look to keep their business within the firm, and a desire to offer a true alternative for lawyers looking for more flexible working options.

“Our services and standards evolve in response to our clients’ feedback, which we actively seek out. I think the true marker of innovation is quite simply responding to clients’ changing needs and exploring new ways of meeting those needs. The result is not only better client relationships, but a healthy internal culture which promotes creativity and empowers our team.”

Having been such a strong performer in client satisfaction for two consecutive years, it will be interesting to see where Legalite goes next.
